This section describes the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct
for Research Involving Humans (TCPS) standards and procedures for
fair access to the benefits of research. In particular, it discusses issues
related to groups traditionally excluded from research. Case studies help
you apply this information. You can check your progress at the end of
the section.
By the end of this section, you should be able to:
- describe the TCPS requirement concerning just distribution of the
benefits of research across all groups in society
- describe the TCPS requirement concerning inclusion of women in research
- describe the TCPS requirement concerning non-exclusion of those not
capable of providing free and informed consent in research
- apply the TCPS standards and procedures that promote just distribution
of the benefits of research subjects in the context of a research project.
